About

DAF is a boutique private higher education with limited spots offered.  The smaller classes enables individual attention for each learner as we focus on developing their unique potential and approach to design.

We are a values-based institution that believes in constant growth and development of our students and staff across all areas of life.  We focus on the heart and mind of the designer, facilitating the student’s development over the three years. We believe that as designers, the better we understand ourselves and the world around us, the more relevant our creations become as we approach design with understanding and empathy.

DAF has strong ties to the industry, with our highly sought-after graduates working in all major fashion retailers in South Africa as well as around the world.  We recently partnered with GUCCI on their fellowship program.  We continue to support our graduates through our department, Distilled, which offers graduates freelance work opportunities with retailers, corporates and start-up brands.

About

At Inscape we prepare fashion graduates not just for the fast-changing pace of the fashion industry, but also for the fast-changing creative sector in which all design disciplines are integrated. Our versatile design students are exposed to various design fields by starting with foundational knowledge, practical and technical skills, design thinking and problem-solving, and our larger philosophy of Circular Design and meeting the Sustainable Development Goals through design, after which once the basics of design have been mastered, students are equipped to engage with discipline-specific fashion competencies while still applying the principles of design thinking.

Inscape’s fashion programmes focus on changing the fashion industry and equipping students to be creative leaders, ready for the challenges they might face, which means that the traditional fashion ‘creative & design’ and ‘theory’ subjects are integrated and the focus is always on solving problems while acknowledging that we do not have all the answers to the problems faced in the fashion industry.

Inscape has a national footprint, with five campuses across three provinces… (add general content). Our Bachelor of Design specialising in Fashion Design is offered on campus, while the Higher Certificate in Fashion Design is available on campus or through our distance platform.
